Set Sail

Set Sail was chosen a the theme for De Montfort University’s Graphic Design and Graphic Design & Illustration Degree Show 2017. Working with the theme we decided on as a team, I worked alongside another student to create the branding for this year’s degree show.

The theme was inspired by the idea of starting a positive journey after finishing the course and going different ways. Together we worked on ideas that reflected the meaning so that promotion for the degree show could have its own visual language. The waves were chosen as individual paths and experiences throughout university and the type ‘Set Sail’ was positioned at 12° in line with the faculty’s guidelines along with the use of teal. The invites and posters were hand screen printed using three colours on translucent stock to go with the sail theme. And bright orange (Gmund Action Electric Blood) stock for inserts for invites.

Social media accounts for the show were created in early 2016, allowing us to adhere to our theme and showcase the development of the branding and journey we went on to organise the show from start to finish. Posts of the degree show can be found using #SetSail2017 and @SetSail2017 on both Twitter and Instagram where updates, student work and behind the scenes photos for the show were posted.
